AC Milan vs Tottenham Hotspur Preview – Prediction & Potential line-ups

Champions League football returns on Tuesday as AC Milan welcome Tottenham Hotspur at the San Siro in the first-leg of their last 16 tie.

The Rossoneri will come into this match on the back of a 1-0 victory over Torino at the weekend.

Olivier Giroud broke the deadlock in the 62nd minute of the Serie A encounter as the home side ended their seven-match winless run by triumphing 1-0.

Milan took their revenge against the Maroons who had knocked them out of the Coppa Italia last month by beating them 1-0 in the round of 16.

Despite the victory, Stefano Pioli’s side are still 18 points behind league leaders Napoli.

Meanwhile, Tottenham were stunned by Leicester City who claimed an emphatic 4-1 success last weekend.

Nampalys Mendy, James Maddison, Kelechi Iheanacho and Harvey Barnes all scored to condemn Spurs to their eighth defeat of the season.

This was a shocking result for the North London outfit considering their impressive 1-0 success against defending champions Manchester City in their previous game.

Match Preview

AC Milan

This is the first time since 2013/14 that AC Milan have made it to the knockouts of the Champions League. However, their recent performances don’t suggest they could go very far in the tournament.

The Rossoneri have managed to win only one of their previous eight matches across all competitions. They are currently 18 points behind Napoli in the Serie A table while they are also out of the domestic cup.

Manager Stefano Pioli needs a positive display from his team this week in Europe to appease the San Siro fans.

Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham have been highly inconsistent this season, with the Londoners winning 12 and losing eight of their 23 matches in the English top-flight. However, their top-four hopes this season are still very promising as they are only two points behind Newcastle United in fourth.

Antonio Conte’s side will now face AC Milan on Tuesday in the latest Champions League fixtures. Spurs’ head-to-head record against the Italian outfit should give them encouragement as they have won two of their four meetings, with the other two ending in draws.

AC Milan vs Tottenham Hotspur Prediction

Spurs suffered a big blow ahead of their Champions League clash as Rodrigo Bentancur picked up a serious knock in latest Tottenham news. The injury is set to keep him sidelined for the rest of the season.

Considering both teams haven’t been very impressive recently, we expect Tuesday’s contest to end in a draw.
