Cristiano Ronaldo speaks on his future plans, reveals World Cup dream

Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has insisted that he has no plans of calling time on his career anytime soon and he hopes to play for ‘many, many years’ to come.

The Portugal international will turn 36 in February next year, but he has shown no signs on slowing down and has been the Bianconeri’s leading performer with 16 goals and two assists from just 14 appearances this term.

Ronaldo still has 18 months remaining on his Bianconeri contract and he has stated that he is motivated to prolong his playing career for as long as possible with retirement far from his mind.

He told: “If you feel motivated, it doesn’t matter. Cristiano now is good. I feel in a great moment, but I don’t know tomorrow what’s going to happen. I hope to play many, many years more, but you never know. This is football, we don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow.”

The 35-year-old helped Portugal to win the Euro 2016 title which was their first major trophy in history. Ronaldo has now talked about the dream of lifting the World Cup crown and emphasised that ‘everything is possible’.

“We won 2016 and now we want to win the World Cup. It’s possible, yes, it’s possible. Everything is possible. But you have to be realistic as well. I win [with] every club that I played with, but World Cup. It’s a dream. It’s a dream,” He added.

Ronaldo won every silverware within reach during his nine-year spell with Real Madrid before he made the move to Turin in the summer of 2018 for a club-record fee of nearly £100m.

He has since fared impressively with 81 goals and 19 assists coming from just 103 appearances while the Bianconeri have gone on to extend their dominance in the Serie A with nine straight titles.

However, they face their toughest challenge yet this season where AC Milan are already 10 points ahead of them for the top spot on the table, having played just one more additional game.

There are another four teams ahead of Andrea Pirlo’s side including Inter, who are just one point behind the Rossoneri. The club can’t afford any slip-ups hereafter, if they harbour any ambition to defend the Scudetto for the 10th year running.

Ronaldo has been the standout figure for them in the Serie A with 12 goals and behind him, Alvaro Morata has been the second highest scorer with only four. The Portuguese will need more help upfront for what could be the most exciting title race in a long while.
