Inter Milan will return to Serie A action when they welcome Juventus to the San Siro on Sunday.
The Nerazzurri reached the Champions League quarter-finals for the first time in more than a decade after they secured a goalless draw at Porto to win the tie on a 1-0 aggregate.
The Portuguese side put their opponents under serious pressure late in the game but Inter held out to keep the scoreline 0-0.
Now they turn their attention to the domestic league where they haven’t been very convincing in recent weeks.
Simone Inzaghi’s side have managed to win only two of their previous five league encounters. They succumbed to disappointing losses in their recent two away clashes at Bologna and Spezia.
Despite their struggles, Inter are still sitting second in the Serie A table having collected 50 points from 26 matches. But Lazio and AC Milan are not far off and could overtake them by the end of the week.
On the other hand, Juventus have been playing impressive football lately and have won five of their previous six league matches.
Their most recent Serie A clash saw them winning 4-2 over Sampdoria at the Allianz Stadium, with Adrien Rabiot bagging a brace while Bremer and Matias Soule also earning their names on the scoresheet.
However, the 15-point deduction as punishment for capital gain violations means they are out of contention for Champions League places this season.
However, the Old Lady could still make it to the prestigious competition through another route. They will now be bidding to win the Europa League as the Italian giants have made it to the quarter-finals after winning their round of 16 tie against Freiburg on a 3-0 aggregate.
Max Allegri’s men headed to the Europa-Park Stadion with a 1-0 advantage on Thursday and easily outclassed their German rivals in the second-leg.
Dusan Vlahovic broke the deadlock on the stroke of half-time before Federico Chiesa added another in injury-time of the second-half.
